Multicultural Solidarity Celebration: Songs, Poems, Dances...

Updated: Oct 27

One of the groups I enjoy being with is Multicultural Solidarity of Long Island and their Diversity Friendship Listening Circles.

Our in-person gatherings have enabled me to meet people from many backgrounds other than my original one...

  • I've sat in the presence of folks from other countries like India and South and Central America.

  • Had my first experience at the Shinnecock native American reservation on Eastern Long Island.

  • Met folks from the Long Island Baha'i community and continue to enjoy their indoor and outdoor gatherings.

During these heart-opening experiences, we shared food and our stories.

For this evening’s live celebration, they asked people to share some original art: songs, poems, dance…

A few weeks ago, I replied to one of the event organizers that I mostly create posts on my blog and haven’t penned any poems or songs. She encouraged me to try my hand at a short piece of prose…

I kept her request before me, trusting that if this was to a helpful learning experience, something would emerge…

Earlier this week it did…it didit did…

…including this morning’s inspiration…3 times…

I decided to do 3 blogs to give me some room to grow beyond 3 “short pieces”…Those who know me know that #music belongs...

Here are the links to the 3 posts, plus a bonus post...
