So Many Roads...and not only for graduates

Updated: Oct 19, 2022

Ana, Katie & Jason:

As far as you are able...do everything with PASSION...

Work hard, play hard... (the) rest (is) easy...

MY ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

In case you're wondering...when I graduated college I had "tenyear" - it's like tenure in that it took me 3 colleges and ten years to finish. That's a story for another time...

ICING FOR YOUR GRADUATION CAKE

So, work hard...don't "puck around"...well, for two of you, I'll pretend I'm an NHL referee and look the other way...

BANK SHOTS...(for Jason & Ana)...the age of specialization...

YOU MIGHT BE A NURSE IF...

More holiDAZE humor...

You might be a redneck (nurse)...

SCHOOL EXIT EXAM

Final Exam Question...

--Pssst...If you don't have an Uncle John, it's OK to ask your Grandpa Mike (aka, "Dad")

It's the same story the crow told me

It's the only one he know

Like the morning sun you come

And like the wind you go

Ain't no time to hate

Barely time to wait

Whoa, oh, what I want to know

Where does the time go?

SONGS & A POEM FOR MOVIN' ON...

For Katie...

FYI - My wife Eileen was a nurse then a nursing instructor

For all...

--I had the good fortune to make 3 cross-country surfing safaris- one with my brother...your Uncle Mike (aka, "Dad"). I did a 4th in two stages. In 1973, I relocated to California accompanied by my Dad and Mom...then 2 years later, did a return trip from California with my sisters.

--If you'd like to get a few more CEU's from Grateful Dead University FOR NO ADDITIONAL TUITION...here's a post that lists other possible songs for graduation...

The road is a wonder-filled place to allow your vision and experience to EXPAND...

--this was one of the tunes included above in the post about Grateful Dead songs for graduation

OVERTIME

--From Green Day to Miley, the best songs for moving on...

COMMENCEMENT HYMN & HER

(from the uploader) @ Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. From the last Grateful Dead show. This is maybe the most soulful "So Many Roads" Jerry ever sang.

So many roads I tell you

New York to San Francisco

All I want is one

To take me home (1)

From the high road to the low

So many roads I know

So many roads – So many roads

So many roads to ease my soul...

(1) Exactly 2 months to the day (August 9, 1995), Jerry got his wish and was welcomed home...I sometimes wonder if he knew his time here with us was coming to an end...

BUZZER SHOT...

I was in a recent Zoom meeting where our facilitator asked us to name the two most important days in our lives.

For the first, many agreed on the day we were born. I was both surprised and challenged by one participant's reply for the second most important day,

"The day we discover WHY we're here..."
